Course Personal Reflection

Personal Reflection

At the beginning of the semester, I was hoping for classes that are different from the usual engineering classes. I also wanted a class that teaches me how to find a job. I thought it might really be helpful for my job search.

After taking the course, I’ve had a positive learning experience. And when I say experience, I really mean experience. The course didn’t teach long equations and theories. Instead, we had the experience of writing a Letter of Introduction, making a blog and interviewing and getting interviewed. I have to admit that I didn’t think they seemed as important as the hard core knowledge. However, Now I strongly believe that these skills are absolutely necessary to differentiate yourself from the rest who are also well educated.

I really like the fact that I could always receive feedback in the class, whenever I had a question, my teacher Greg gave me an answer. And I've received plenty of feedback from Greg and my classmates in LSEC N307. The courses with final exams didn’t satisfy me because I would never know what was wrong with my test answers, reports, or essays. I still remember the funny presentation Greg showed us. It was interesting to see the connection between Greg and The Guy on the presentation. They both have the same humor. For the blog posts, I had put a lot of thoughts when I posted in my blog. Also, it was educational to see how my classmates created their blogs and posted their works in response to a same assignment.

I want to thank Greg for always giving us a relaxing, relevant and insightful course lecture. I really appreciate that you have encouraged us to pursue our own ideas for the presentation topic. I am thankful for having fun and competent classmates. Everyone has given me a lot of encouragement, and gave me something to look up to. I learned plenty from my strengths and weaknesses. Without my classmates and my tutor, I don’t think I would have enjoyed this course that much.

My Part of The Capital Gate Report

Capital Gate
Introduction
Capital gate is a 35 story skyscraper; it is one of the tallest buildings in Abu Dhabi. It is famous for its distinct lean, an 18 degree inclination to the west. Capital Gate is owned and developed by Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company (ADNEC). It has achieved a place in the Guinness Book of World Records.

Aloft Abu Dhabi Hotel
For those who prefer to stay in Capital gate for a longer period of time for whatever purpose (long term business, honeymoon, or tourism), Aloft Abu Dhabi provides 408 luxurious Loft-inspired suites and rooms.  There are 5 different room designs, with different prices of course.
The ‘Aloft Room’ is the least expensive, but shouldn’t be called “cheap” for artistic reasons; it’s magnificent even at a small price.
The ‘Splash Room’ is almost identical to the ‘Aloft Room’ but it’s located on the higher floors with a great view over the Splash Pool, hence the name.
The ‘Breezy Room’ is more spacious and provides an even greater view than the previous rooms.
The ‘Sweet Suite’ is certainly not bitter; it’s good enough to live in. It provides a large space with all the great features of the prior rooms.
Finally, the ‘Breezy Suite’ is the largest, and most comfortable, luxurious room in the hotel. It provides a magical view and great corner-views over ADNEC, Capital Centre and the Capital Marina.

Facilities
Aloft provides a mountain of facilities, starting with the Breakfast buffet every morning with a lot of options.
There’s also a large Gym which pleases professional athletes.
There are a number of different uniquely shaped Swimming Pools.
There’s a great Park for which includes a Barbeque and a nice time to spend with the wife and kids, or a Diner of you prefer to sit indoors.
There are Two Bars, one at the first floor and the other on the last, the latter opens at midnight.
There’s also a Bakery, and a Fruit Vendor, both of which are fresh and organic.
Surprisingly, there’s a Gaming Center for the kids, Free Wi-fi for everyone staying at the hotel, and a T.V at the lobby, a great place to hang out and watch a sports game.
There’s entertainment like Pool Tables, an amazing outdoor sitting area with a fountain, A Smoking Area, a Coffee Shop, a Restaurant which suits a Gourmet’s liking.
And finally, it has two Nightclubs with a band and a DJ, the first nightclub which is on the first floor opens around the evening but closes around midnight, that’s when the second nightclub which is located at the top floor opens. It was done that way to reduce noise and complaints.
